... the world's preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls - all girls - where, in an accepting and nurturing environment,
girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls
develop qualities that will serve them all their lives, like leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction
about their own potential self-worth.
... a place where girls are encouraged to try new things and experiment with new ideas. They are expected to be decision-makers
and leaders. They can take risks and learn from their mistakes in a supportive environment of their peers without social
pressures to conform to stereotyped expectations.
...the girls are led by trained volunteer leaders who guide the planning and carrying out of activities as well as providing
a positive role model for the girls.
The Girl Scout Promise
On my honor, I will try: To serve God* and my country, To help people at all times, And
to live by the Girl Scout Law.
* The word "God" can be interpreted in a number of ways, depending
on one's spiritual beliefs. When reciting the Girl Scout Promise, it is okay to replace the word "God" with whatever word
your spiritual beliefs dictate.
The Girl Scout Law
I will do my best to be honest and fair, friendly
and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, and responsible for what I say and do, and to respect
myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place, and be a sister to
every Girl Scout.
